| Size of Award | In July of 2005, Connecticut passed Public Act 05-01, an "Act Concerning Energy Independence," which contains provisions regulating natural gas rates for distributed generation (DG). Under this act customer-side DG units that use natural gas are eligible for a rebate of gas delivery charges from the electric distribution company. These distribution companies were required to institute a program to rebate DG customers by January 1, 2006. The Connecticut Department of Public Utility Control (DPUC) oversees the distribution company's programs. Customers shall be rebated for an amount equivalent to the customer's retail delivery charge for transporting natural gas from the local gas company to the customer's project. The costs associated with the rebates will be recouped through federally mandated congestion charges. |
