Additional Information The property tax exemption applies to "Class I" residential renewable energy systems and hydropower facilities installed on or after October 1, 2007, that generate electricity for private residential use . Municipalities are authorized, but not required, to offer a property tax exemption to combined heat and power (CHP) facilities. CHP facilities must have been installed on or after July 1, 2007.
