Critical Information The California Energy Commission offers two separate loan funds. $25 million in federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds support a loan program with a 1.00% interest rate. Projects unable to meet the ARRA requirements can use the original $20 million in state funds, which support a separate loan program with a 3.00% interest rate. The maximum amount per project is $3 million and the timeframe for repayment is 15 years. There is no minimum loan amount.

Additional Information Eligible entities are cities, counties, special districts, public schools, public hospitals, and other public-care facilities. Examples of eligible projects are energy efficiency upgrades such as those to lighting, heating, or air conditioning, cogeneration or combined heat and power (CHP) projects, pumps and motors, and renewable energy projects.
