EPA presented two 2012 ENERGY STAR CHP Awards on February 7, 2012. While applications are not being accepted at this time, all CHPP Partners will be notified by email and invited to submit applications to nominate projects once the award process is re-opened in the coming months. For more information, please contact us via the CHPP helpline at chp@epa.gov.

CHP systems can qualify for our award of merit, the ENERGY STAR® CHP Award, if they demonstrate considerable fuel and emissions savings over comparable, state-of-the-art separate heat and power generation.

Recent Award Winners

The ENERGY STAR CHP Award recognizes highly efficient CHP systems that reduce emissions and use at least 5 percent less fuel than comparable, state-of-the-art, separate heat and power generation.

EPA was pleased to present six 2011 ENERGY STAR CHP Awards. These systems range from a 0.720 MW natural gas-fired system at a data center to a 46 MW system that supplies the daily energy needs of a major U.S. university. Learn more about the projects that have received awards (PDF) (49 pp, 903K).

How To Apply

To apply for an ENERGY STAR® CHP Award download the application spreadsheet. The information required by the application includes identifying system characteristics and operation information. The CHP Partnership will help facilitate the process as needed.
