Clean Energy: State Climate and Energy Program logo.

Massachusetts has executed a portfolio of innovative clean energy programs and policies including: renewable portfolio standard and renewable energy systems benefit charge program, rate-payer funded energy efficiency program, lead by example efforts at state government facilities, CO2 and mercury regulations for power plants, interconnection standards, and a host of other initiatives that will facilitate a cleaner and more reliable energy system.

Through best practices and lessons learned from the EPA and our fellow states, participation in the EPA State Climate and Energy Partnership will assist the Commonwealth in successfully meeting the goals of our new Next-Gen Energy Plan. This plan targets a no load growth strategy by 2016 that relies on efficiency, conservation and renewable energy installations in the residential, business and public sectors to meet its goals.

The Executive Office of Environmental Affairs and Division of Energy Resources look forward to working with the Partnership to expand collaboration and engage key stakeholders throughout the Commonwealth to advance clean, sustainable energy policy and programs.
