New Mexico

Clean Energy Environment State Program

Governor Bill Richardson recently issued two executive orders that will provide New Mexico the opportunity to assume a leadership role in the new emerging clean energy economy and enjoy the economic development and high wage job creation associated with it. Through the "Clean Energy State" and "Climate Change and Greenhouse Gas Reduction" executive orders, state agencies will take charge in developing various clean energy programs. These programs will help produce new clean energy sources that will save consumers and businesses money, prevent the export of energy dollars, create jobs and economic opportunity in New Mexico, and reduce air pollution and greenhouse gases. Through the partnership, New Mexico hopes to be able further and enhance the work from the programs highlighted under the executive orders, while engaging in similar regional and national initiatives, particularly in association with nearby states.
