On Thursday, November 19, 2009, from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM EST EPA’s Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Partnership, together with EPA’s Local Climate and Energy Program, will host a webcast titled “CHP: A Strategy to Meet Sustainable Community Planning Goals.”
This webcast will address the opportunities and challenges of implementing CHP as part of local community sustainability plans. It will cover why CHP makes sense for local governments, the applications best suited for CHP, and the issues needed to be considered when implementing CHP. Two communities will also discuss their specific community energy and environmental plans and how they are using CHP to help meet their goals.

Local Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Project Examples for ARRA Funds (June 11, 2009)
This webcast provided an overview of EPA energy efficiency and renewable energy programs and U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA) funding opportunities. In addition, one community showcased its experience with integrating energy efficient practices into their municipal operations. A second community shared its efforts to include renewable energy technologies on publicly owned property.

Integrating Energy Efficiency into New and Existing Homes (May 21, 2009)
This webcast provided an overview of EPA’s ENERGY STAR programs for new and existing homes and EPA’s Responsible Appliance Disposal Program. In addition, one local government described its energy efficiency programs for owners of new and existing homes. A municipally owned electric utility also provided an overview of lessons learned from implementation of its multiple energy efficiency programs targeting the city’s residential sector.

Using EPA Resources to Maximize Clean Energy in Economic Recovery Spending (March 5, 2009)
This webcast highlighted federal resources that local governments can use to help them maximize the clean energy benefits of projects funded through The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
