More than 60 leading organizations have joined together to develop the National Action Plan for Energy Efficiency with a goal to achieve all cost-effective energy efficiency by the year 2025.
This effort engages energy market leaders—including electric and gas utilities, state utility regulators and energy agencies, energy consumers, energy service providers, and environmental/energy efficiency advocates—in the development of the National Action Plan for Energy Efficiency. Leadership Group members are identifying key barriers limiting greater U.S. investment in energy efficiency, and document business practices and policy and program options for removing these barriers and improving the acceptance and use of energy efficiency relative to energy supply options. Leaders will work across their spheres of influence, as appropriate, to remove barriers to cost-effective energy efficiency, share insights and experiences, and assist in the dissemination of these policies and business practices to key audiences.
Since December 2005, the Leadership Group and Observers have offered their expertise, attended meetings, and contributed to Action Plan development (PDF) (5 pp., 72K). The Leadership Group is committed to taking action to increase investment in cost-effective energy efficiency. A number of key resources were developed under the guidance and with input from the Leadership Group to help parties meet their own energy efficiency goals. The resources do not necessarily represent a consensus view and do not represent an endorsement by the organizations of Leadership Group members.
