Energy Efficiency Workforce Development

More than 60 leading organizations have joined together to develop the National Action Plan for Energy Efficiency with a goal to achieve all cost-effective energy efficiency by the year 2025.

The Leadership Group of the National Action Plan for Energy Efficiency is committed to taking action to increase investment in cost-effective energy efficiency, including sharing information and resources to help parties advance its Vision for 2025. There are a number of activities necessary to achieve the Vision, including the evolution of policies and programs to build an energy efficiency workforce to deliver a large-scale ramp-up in energy efficiency investment.

Several state and local workforce policy initiatives are underway to address energy efficiency workforce development issues. Many of these initiatives capture energy efficiency, along with other clean energy options, such as renewable energy and combined heat and power. The following summaries of existing clean energy workforce initiatives were discussed on a State Technical Forum sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Energy efficiency workforce development policies and programs continue to evolve at the local, state, regional and federal levels. Additional information and resources will be added to this page over time. For more information on energy efficiency workforce efforts under the Action Plan, please contact Stacy Angel (angel.stacy@epa.gov).

The RDEE Toolkit is being developed under the guidance of and with input from the Leadership Group of the National Action Plan on Energy Efficiency.
