Details: Kentucky provides tax credits for clean coal facilities that reduce "emissions of pollutants released during generation of electricity through the use of clean coal equipment and technologies." In response to the passage of HB 299, the Kentucky Energy Security National Leadership Act (signed by the Governor on April 21, 2006), the Office of Energy Policy worked with the University of Kentucky Center for Applied Energy Research (CAER) to produce a Coal Gasification Technologies Report that provides a technical and economic assessment of technologies for producing transportation fuels, synthetic natural gas, chemicals, and electricity through gasification of coal (specifically Kentucky coals).
