Understanding How to Purchase Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs)
On August 6, 2009, from 1-2:15pm EST, Climate Leaders co-hosted a webinar with EPA’s Green Power Partnership, a voluntary program that supports the organizational procurement of green power by offering expert advice, technical support, tools, and resources.
The webinar discussed how partners should approach using renewable energy certificates (RECs) as part of their greenhouse gas reduction strategies.
First, Blaine Collison, Director, EPA's Green Power Partnership, presented on the definition of RECs, RECs’ features and benefits when buying green power, and the Green Power Partnership’s purchasing requirements.
Then, Marty Sedler, Director of Global Utilities & Infrastructure for Intel Corporation, presented on Intel’s approach to, and experience with, using RECs.
