National Environmental CrimePrevention Week
Tuesday, April 17
Special Agents from EPA's Criminal Enforcement program visited students, at a Washington, DC school to give a presentation that included:
- A presentation showing what CID does, the types of crimes they investigate, and its various roles, including case investigation
- An open forum question and answer session between the students and the Special Agents
- A demonstration and description of some simple Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) for example, gloves, Tyvek, boots, APR/PAPR and dressing some students in this protective equipment
- Review a small crime scene, which will have been set up by the Special Agents
- Breaking up the students into teams (4-5 students/team) and having them process the crime scene i.e. take photos, sketch, possibly remove a fingerprint
While one team was processing the crime scene, the others participated in the demonstration of PPE.

Wednesday, April 18
EPA was host to “Environmental Crime Prevention Day” with an exhibit displayed at EPA Headquarters to join with federal, state, and local law enforcement organizations throughout the country in observing National Environmental Crime Prevention Week.
The exhibit featured equipment and other tools used in the prevention, detection and investigation of environmental crime.
