CWNS 2008 Web Seminar Series

EPA's CWNS Web seminar series provides training on a variety of important topics, including eligibility and documentation rules, cost curves, and methodologies for reporting specific categories of needs, prior to the CWNS 2008 data collection period. These seminars are open to state and regional CWNS coordinators, nonpoint source (NPS) coordinators, onsite regulators, stormwater coordinators, and other members of the CWNS community.

Registration is required. To register contact CWNS staff (cwns@epa.gov) and indicate the name(s) and the date(s) of the seminar(s) which you would like to attend.

Recording of past Web Seminars are available. To print a Web Seminar presentation, click on the "presentation" link at the end of the session description. Then, in your browser's File menu, click with Microsoft Office PowerPoint. This will open the presentation in PowerPoint and allow you to print.

Tuesday August 7, 1-3 ET                CWNS 101

This web seminar was targeted at new state and regional CWNS coordinators, as well as NPS coordinators, onsite regulators, stormwater coordinators, and others interested in learning more about CWNS. Presenters provided an overview of the history of CWNS and how CWNS data is used. They also introduced the CWNS 2008 goals, timeline, eligibility criteria, documentation rules, the web-based data entry system, and review process. Tuesday August 14, 1-3 ET             CWNS 2008 Eligibility

This web seminar focused on the six elements of CWNS eligibility and provide examples on how to meet the eligibility requirements. Presenters discussed changes to the CWNS eligibility rules in 2008 and highlight the types of needs that are newly eligible. Tuesday August 28, 1-3 ET              National State Revolving Fund (SRF) Eligibility Rules

This web seminar provided an overview of the types of projects that meet the national SRF eligibility requirements. Presenters provided information to clarify commonly misunderstood SRF eligibility criteria, such as needs for growth and stormwater needs related water quality and water quantity. Also, they presented the new process for state certification of SRF eligibility and the related audit process. Tuesday September 25, 1-3 ET       Documentation Rules and Document Types

This web seminar focused on the requirements for documenting needs and costs in CWNS 2008. Presenters provided an overview of the document types by showing sample documents and highlighting new document types. This web seminar demonstrated the new data entry system that will be used to enter data in CWNS 2008. The presenters featured the new functionality to make it easier for state and local communities to enter data. This web seminar focused on small community (with fewer than 10,000 people) needs.
