We're Redesigning Our Safer Product Label
Finding cleaning and other products that are safer for you, your family, and the environment should be easy — that's why we are redesigning our safer product label. EPA has a voluntary program that reviews products and allows them to display our DfE label if they meet EPA's stringent health and environmental criteria.
The public comment period for the potential new designs below closed on October 31, 2014. We received more than 1,700 comments. Thank you for your feedback. We plan to announce our new safer product label design this winter.
Why we are redesigning our Safer Product Label
When you see the current DfE Label on a product it means that EPA scientists have evaluated every ingredient in the product to ensure it meets stringent human health and environmental criteria. Learn more about the DfE Safer Product Label.
We would like the new label to accomplish several goals:
- Better convey the scientific rigor of EPA's product evaluation and the benefits to people and the environment with a label that is easier to display on products, materials, and in digital media
- Increase buyers' recognition of products bearing EPA's Safer Product Label
- Encourage innovation and development of safer chemicals and chemical-based products
