State Implementation Plans (SIP)
Introduction
State Implementation Plans (SIPs) are a collection of regulations that explain how a State will clean up polluted areas under the Clean Air Act. The states must involve the public in the approval process before a SIP is finalized. USEPA approves each SIP, and if it isn't acceptable, the USEPA can assume responsibility for enforcing the Clean Air Act in that State.
