Computer TakeBack Campaign's 3rd Annual Computer Report Card Exit EPA Sponsored by the Silicon Valley Toxics Coalition, the Computer TakeBack Campaign issues a Computer Report Card each Fall to encourage consumers to leverage their buying power to foster greater corporate responsibility for protecting public health, worker safety and the environment. The Report Card analyzes the information on the Web sites of computer companies to compare and measure the environmental qualities of electronic equipment and the environmental performance of companies. computer mouse

Leasing: A Step Toward Producer Responsibility Exit EPA This report examines the practice of leasing products, rather than selling them, as a strategy for increasing resource productivity, particularly by preventing waste generation and encouraging a closed-loop pattern of materials use through reuse, remanufacturing, and recycling. Explores the ways in which leasing and servicizing (selling the function of a product rather than the product itself) can affect product ownership, management at end of life, and product design for a variety of companies and products. Developed by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation 's (NYSDEC) Pollution Prevention Unit, this guide provides a summary of NYSDEC's regulations as they pertain to the electronic/computer industry, pollution prevention tips for each waste stream mentioned, and a list of technical assistance providers. This guide was made possible by a grant from EPA Region 2.

Recycling Technology Products: An Overview of E-Waste Policy Issues Exit EPA This Department of Commerce report is designed to assist lawmakers and policymakers in engaging in an informed debate as they consider future action on a potential electronics recycling system that affects the technology industry and its stakeholders, including manufacturers, retailers, recyclers, and consumers. The report summarizes stakeholders’ views and concerns, leads the reader through the different components of a recycling system, and analyzes the most commonly discussed models for financing a national recycling system.

Cathode Ray Tube Manufacturing and Recycling: Analysis of Industry Survey Exit EPA This online version of the Electronic Industries Alliance paper presented at the 2001 EPR2 Conference. The paper summarizes the findings of a survey conducted by the Electronic Industries Alliance ("EIA") that evaluated the current volume of manufacturing and recycling of Cathode Ray Tube ("CRT") glass by the United States ("U.S.") CRT glass manufacturers. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the survey findings and determine if the CRT glass manufacturing industry has the capacity to absorb an increased volume of recycled glass that may result from efforts at the federal and state level to increase collection of CRTs.
