Welcome to the EIMS system where you can perform searches through your web browser to find environmental information of interest. Using search parameters such as geographical information, date, and content origin will yield precise sets of search results.
The EIMS user community includes environmental scientists, resource managers, and other stakeholders -- both within EPA and from the general public. Thus, there are different privileges assigned to different user groups. All users are allowed to search and view specific areas of EIMS records without logging in to the system. Creating new records in EIMS is a shared activity both within EPA and among external collaborators. EIMS requires that all persons adding information into the system be identified through a registration process. Separate registration processes have been established for “Public Access" users and for "EPA Registered Access" users.
There are three main groups of EIMS users. In order to use the system most effectively enter the EIMS system according to the user group with which you are affiliated:

Public Access: Specific areas of EIMS records are searchable and available for viewing to all users. If you are seeking information about the scientific environmental information resources of EPA and only need to search and view information, enter as a Public Access user.

Self-Registered Access: Public users interested in creating metadata records must first register in EIMS. You will be presented with a self-registration form. After completing the self-registration process, you need only provide your user name and password to create
new metadata records or to edit metadata records for which you have
been assigned the role of Owner or Co-owner.

EPA Registered Access: To obtain access to the records marked “EPA Only” or if you need to manage information in EIMS, you must have a valid
TSSMS User ID and an EIMS account. To set up a TSSMS ID, contact your ADP coordinator (call the technical support center at 919-380-4588 for
assistance). Your account information will be mailed to you. Contact the EIMS Administrator or EIMS Technical Support Center at 919-380-4588 to establish your EIMS restricted access account.
