Laboratory Management Workgroup

The Laboratory Management Workgroup consists of board members and volunteers interested in a topic being addressed at any given time. At the request of the Board and in concert with other Environmental Laboratory Advisory Board (i.e., ELAB or the Board) workgroups, the Laboratory Management Workgroup will research, study, evaluate, and/or assess issues of concern to the environmental laboratory testing community and will make recommendations to the entire Board for action consistent with ELAB's Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA) Charter, as appropriate. Issues relevant to this workgroup include, but are not limited to the following: the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) policies affecting laboratory operations, procurement reform, business, and laboratory ethics; appropriate concerns regarding national laboratory accreditation participation, such as by States and/or laboratories; small laboratory representation; development of means of outreach to improve laboratory and State/federal Agency participation; participate in means to insure self-sufficiency for national laboratory accreditation; analyst certification as a tool in accreditation process; storage and disposition of hazardous materials and/or wastes in laboratory operations specifically it relates to Homeland Security, training needs for all personnel; assessor consistency for national laboratory accreditation; industry capacity and capabilities; and management systems.
