Monitoring Workgroup
Background
The Monitoring Workgroup researches, studies, evaluates, and/or assesses issues of concern to the environmental laboratory testing community and will make recommendations to the entire Board for action consistent with ELAB’s Charter, as appropriate. Workgroups are utilized to assist the Board in dealing with an array of matters under discussion and distribute the workload in information gathering for the Boards consideration. Examples of discussion topics include: training and/or accreditation of laboratory employees and assessors; consistency in operating practice and deliverables amongst accreditors and assessors; improvements of the audit practice relevant to laboratories; standardization of accreditation and proficiency testing analytes between accreditors; formation and implementation of a proficiency testing oversight body/ proficiency testing provider accreditor; the role of laboratory management in monitoring laboratory fulfillment of the national accreditation standards; and the pursuit of the goal of a single national environmental laboratory accreditation program.
