Description: The ability of the analytical process to detect the analyte for a given sample. It is defined as the minimum concentration that gives a 95% probability of detection when the detection criteria are chosen to give only a 5% probability of false detection in a blank sample. For Strontium-90 in milk during the period of 1960 through July 1978, the minimum detectable concentrations were reported as either 1 or 2 pCi/L.
