Column Name: COUNTY_FIPS_CODE
Description: A coded value that represents the Federal Information Processing Stand ard (FIPS) county code. A State may report either FIPS county codes, or county codes which are assigned by that State. I f the county codes reported by a State are not identified as FIPS codes, a one-for-one State county code to FIPS coun ty code conversion list MUST be provided. A county is considered to be the "first order subdivision" of each State regard less of its local designation (e.g, county, parish, borough, etc.). All of the following are considered to be county equivalents: 1) the census areas and boroughs of Alaska 2) the District of Columbia 3) the parishes of Louisiana 4) the independent cities of the States of Maryland, Missouri, Nevada, and Virginia 5) that part of Yellowstone National Park located in Montana 6) the municipios of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico 7) the islands of the U.S. Virgin Islands 8) the districts/islands of American Samoa 9) the States of the Federated States of Micronesia 10) the island of Guam 11) the municipalities/islands/atolls of the Marshall Islands 12) the municipalities of the Northern Mariana Islands 13) the States of the Republic of Palau 14) the islands of the U.S. Minor Outlying Islands. Must be one of the FIPS PUB 6-3,County Codes.
