Step 6: Maintain and Update
Once you have completed development of the site and the site is available to your audience, it is crucial to maintain and update the site on a regular basis. Key things to remember include:
- Maintain your site
You should plan a regular maintenance schedule - keep in mind that this may require you to repeat some of the steps you have already gone through, such as creating a budget and identifying needs and resources.- Check to make sure all links, search engines, and other elements of your site are working properly.
- Update the text and functionality of your site
- Be sure the text on your site is current. If the information presented is not current and up-to-date, your site may not be credible and your users may be misinformed.
- If information contained in a database is displayed on your site, make sure the data is up-to-date and confirm that the communication between your database and Web site is working properly.
