Below is a listing of EPA's innovative national programs related to air pollution, emissions reduction, and air quality.

  • AirNow - Information on air pollution and how to reduce it. Includes links to ozone maps, air quality forecasts by state, tips on what you can do to reduce air pollution, publications, and health facts.

  • Clean Air Markets - Market-based regulatory programs designed to improve air quality. Includes information and news bulletins on environmental issues such as acid rain, smog/ozone transport, regional haze, particulate matter and climate change. Also featured are programs that employ "cap and trade" mechanisms, such as the acid rain and clear skies initiative.

  • Clean Air Transportation - Communities Grants Supports voluntary cooperative projects that promote transportation efficiency measures within the United States, encourage development patterns that reduce the growth in vehicle miles traveled (VMT), and expand the availability of environmentally-sensitive transportation alternatives.

  • Diesel Retrofit Program - This voluntary program addresses pollution from diesel construction equipment and heavy-duty vehicles, by helping fleet operators, air quality planners in state/local government, and retrofit manufacturers understand program objectives and obtain critical information.

  • Energy Efficiency and Global Climate Change - Energy efficiency and climate change voluntary partnership programs.

  • Energy Star - A government-backed program that is helping businesses and individuals protect the environment through superior energy efficiency.

  • Flexible, Streamlined Air Permits - Promote development of facility-wide air permits that provide industry with the flexibility to respond to the demands of the market place while more efficiently achieving environmental requirements.

  • Methane Energy Programs - EPA's Methane Energy Programs promote profitable opportunities for reducing emissions of methane, an important greenhouse gas, by overcoming a wide range of informational, technical, and institutional barriers.

  • Voluntary Partners - Air quality voluntary partnership programs.
