Individual Development Plans

What are Individual Development Plans?

Individual Development Plans (IDPs) are personalized documents that organize the goals and accomplishments of your fellowship. An IDP is a living document that is continuously updated during the entire two year program as new goals emerge or new accomplishments are completed. It serves as a reference point for you and your mentor or manager as you chart your tasks, trainings, and successful endeavors.

How do I create an Individual Development Plan?

You do not need to use an IDP form, but it helps to look at one. An IDP includes your career goals and activities you would like to accomplish, along with timeframes and any supporting requirements. To find examples of what to include, go to Office of Personnel Management Individual Development Plan site. Exit EPA disclaimer
