EPA Begins National Art Contest for Students in Grades K-12

Creating a world with less waste begins with a vision and EPA is looking toward the next generation of environmentalists to supply it. The agency's Office of Solid Waste (OSW) is conducting a national art contest for children in grades K-12 to promote resource conservation.

This contest is intended to stress the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling waste to our future leaders. EPA is soliciting entries from students in grades K-6, asking them to illustrate their interpretation of the theme "Paint a Path to a World With Less Waste." The winning art work will be published as OSW's 2004 Earth Day poster, which will be displayed in venues across the nation.

Students in grades 7-12 are asked to illustrate their interpretation of the theme "Design a World With Less Waste." Their winning art work will be used as the cover art on OSW's informational CD, A Collection of Solid Waste Resources. The contest runs from August 18, 2003 through November 1, 2003.
