March - May 2008: EPA challenges residents in the Great Lakes Region to recycle one million pounds of electronic waste for Earth Day. There are electronic waste collection events planned for Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. June 6-7, 2008: Best Buy is sponsoring an
electronics
recycling event
at its Corporate Headquarters in Richfield, MN. Best Buy will
recycle your unwanted computers, monitors, printers, fax machines,
TVs, audio equipment, VCRs, DVD players, and cell phones.
Past Events
March 8, 2008: As part of the "Recycle your Cell Phone. It's an Easy Call Campaign," Sony Ericsson participated alongside their parent company Sony in the Sony Free Take Back Recycling Event at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego. Sony collected all types of electronic equipment — TV's, computers, printers as well as cell phones. The event was a huge success — more than 330,000 pounds were collected in just eight hours.
April 11-12, 2008: Best Buy, in partnership
with Sony and Waste Management, is hosting an electronics
collection event
in Blaine, MN. They will recycle your unwanted computers,
monitors, printers, fax machines, TVs, audio equipment, VCRs,
DVD players, and cell phones.

in Eagan, MN. They will recycle your unwanted computers, monitors,
printers, fax machines, TVs, audio equipment, VCRs, DVD players,
and cell phones.
April 18-19, 2008: Best Buy, along with
Broward County, Florida, is sponsoring an electronics
collection event
in Sawgrass, FL. Residents can drop off their unwanted computers,
monitors, printers, fax machines, TVs, audio equipment, VCRs,
DVD players, and cell phones for recycling.
April 20, 2008: EPA, Dell, and cooperating organizations are hosting the 2nd annual Capital Area eCycling event. Bring your unwanted computer and computer-related equipment for free recycling on Sunday, April 20, 2008.
March 31-April 20, 2008: Sony Ericsson will
sponsor a cell phone collection event at this year's Suncom
- Family Circle Cup
,
a Womens Tennis Association (WTA) event in Charleston, SC.
Over 90,000 WTA fans attended last year's event, and we expect
another large turnout for the 2008 tournament. The cell phone
recycling program will run from March 31 through April 20,
the final day of the tournament.
In addition to phones being collected at the event, the Center
for Women
,
the charity receiving the donation from recycling profits,
has agreed to collect phones at their offices. Eight local
Suncom retail stores will be communicating the cell phone
recycling message and collecting phones prior to the event
as well.
April 26, 2008: Nokia's San Diego Product Creation Center is hosting a one-day San Diego community E-Waste collection (PDF) (1 pg, 21K, about PDF)
April 26, 2008: Best Buy is sponsoring a one-day

in Michigan at store locations in Flint, Novi, Grand Rapids,
Madison Heights, Ann Arbor, and Farmington. Best Buy will
recycle your unwanted computers, monitors, printers, fax machines,
TVs, audio equipment, VCRs, DVD players, and cell phones.
April 26-27, 2008: Best Buy is sponsoring
an electronics
recycling event
in Blossom Hill, California and will be collecting unwanted
computers, monitors, printers, fax machines, TVs, audio equipment,
VCRs, DVD players, and cell phones.
May 4, 2008: Clear out your drawers, dust off those unused cell phones and bring them to the Bike New York - Five Borough Bike Tour. Sprint will help you to recycle them. By doing so, you benefit the environment and help to fund free resources to keep kids safer online
. Just drop your phones off at our wireless recycling table on Staten Island, at Fort Wadsworth (New York Avenue & Drum Avenue). If you forget to bring your unused phones, Sprint has still got you covered. Just pick-up a postage-paid envelope to take home with you. That way you can recycle them at your convenience.
May 10, 2008: Best Buy is sponsoring electronics

in California in Salinas, Mountain View, Marina, Vallejo,
Sunnyvale, and Union City.
