Resource Conservation Challenge (RCC) Partnership Programs

Photo: partners shaking handsThe Resource Conservation Challenge (RCC) is a national effort to conserve natural resources and energy by managing materials more efficiently. Through our many partnership programs, we are working with states, industry, businesses, associations, state and local governments, tribes, and the public to reduce waste and pollution and find new and innovative uses for byproduct and waste materials. Provided below are links to the individual programs' Web areas.
 

Coal Combustion Products Partnership (C2P2)
C2P2 is a cooperative effort of EPA and the coal combustion products (CCPs) industry to help promote the beneficial use of CCPs and the resulting environmental benefits. Program co-sponsors are working with industry organizations and federal and state agencies to reduce or eliminate legal, institutional, economic, market, informational, and other barriers to the beneficial use of CCPs.

GreenScapes Alliance
The GreenScapes Alliance promotes the reduction, reuse, and recycling of waste materials in large land use applications such as roadside landscaping; Brownfields land revitalization; and the beautification and maintenance of office complexes, golf courses, and parks. This Web area provides information on how to incorporate GreenScapes into everyday operations, partner success stories, and numerous publications and related links.

National Partnership for Environmental Priorities (NPEP)
NPEP (formerly the National Waste Minimization Partnership Program) is committed to reducing waste at its source, before it is even generated (known as source reduction) through voluntary partnerships with EPA. This Web area contains information about program benefits, enrollment, partners, state and regional partnership and award programs; offers technical assistance; and shares partners' success stories.

Plug-In To eCycling
Plug-In To eCycling is an EPA campaign to promote opportunities for reusing and recycling old electronics such as computers, TVs, and cell phones. This Web area provides information on collection events, reuse programs, tips for donating unwanted equipment, finding recycled hardware, and acquiring donated equipment. It also provides information on becoming a Plug-In To eCycling partner.

Product Stewardship/Extended Product Responsibility (EPR)
EPR is a principle that challenges suppliers, designers, manufacturers, distributors, retailers, customers, recyclers, and disposers of products to share responsibility for the life cycle impacts of the entire product system. This Web area describes developments in EPR both nationally and internationally and provides links to related EPA programs and other resources for more information.

Schools Chemical Cleanout Campaign (SC3)
Working to keep school children and personnel safe, SC3 seeks to raise the national awareness of the issue of chemicals in schools. It is working to build mutual environmental stewardship approaches for improving school chemical management with state and local agencies, school stakeholders, and laboratory chemical vendors.

WasteWise
WasteWise is a free, voluntary EPA program through which partners reduce municipal solid waste (MSW), benefiting their bottom line and the environment. This Web area provides program information, effective waste reduction strategies, partner case studies, and numerous WasteWise publications.
