Careers: Make College Count—Study the Environment!

Do you want to pursue environmental studies in college? If you are college hunting with a "green" degree in mind, visit the following sites to search for a school with an environmental program that interests you.

Advanced Technology Environmental Education Center Exit EPA
This site contains information on environmental programs in high schools, 2-year colleges, and 4-year universities. It also provides broad descriptions of typical environmental technology jobs, including those in the solid and hazardous waste fields.

Brown Center for Environmental Studies Exit EPA
The Center for Environmental Studies (CES) at Brown University was established to aid students in solving environmental issues at the local and global levels. The CES Web site provides links to environmental studies programs at more than 100 universities across the United States.

Center for Conservation Biology Network Exit EPA
This portion of the site includes a database directory of higher education environmental programs. The database includes almost 200 environmental programs and can be broken down by subject (e.g., waste management). Users also can specify state, type of degree, and school.

Environmental Careers Organization Exit EPA
This comprehensive site provides a wealth of information for researching environmental careers. Click on "Career Center" from the home page to access career tips and information about environmental fields.
