Hazardous Waste Transportation
All aspects of hazardous waste transportation are closely regulated by EPA. Choose from the options below to learn more about the rules and regulations related to the transport of hazardous wastes.
Transporters are individuals or entities that move hazardous waste from one site to another by highway, rail, water, or air (see 40 CFR 260.10). This includes transporting hazardous waste from a generator's site to a facility that can recycle, treat, store, or dispose of the waste. It can also include transporting treated hazardous waste to a site for further treatment or disposal.
- Hazardous Waste Manifest System is a set of forms, reports, and procedures that track hazardous waste from the time it leaves the generator facility until it reaches the waste management facility that will store, treat, or dispose of the hazardous waste. The system allows the waste generator to verify that its waste has been properly delivered, and that no waste has been lost or unaccounted for in the process.
