Conference Invitation
You are cordially invited to participate in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's conference on "Spectral Remote Sensing of Vegetation" to be held at the US EPA's National Exposure Research Laboratory's Environmental Sciences Division in Las Vegas, Nevada, on March 12-14th, 2003. The focus of this conference is on the application to vegetation research utilizing techniques that leverage the spectral information obtained from passive and active sensors using imaging and non-imaging remote sensing systems. Studies from the lab bench and/or field-based, scaling on up to airborne and spaceborne platforms, are invited. This conference seeks to gather together important members of the research community to present and discuss this important and timely topic.
Vegetation is a critical component of the landscape and serves as an indicator of overall ecosystem condition, environmental stress, and landscape change at the local, regional, and global scale. Advances in remote sensing imaging systems and data processing technologies have led to an increase in the use of this data to answer scientific questions. With these issues in mind, the conference has been organized into several topic areas that include, but are not limited to:
| |
Species Identification
Infrared Applications |
| |
Stress Detection | |
Agricultural Applications |
| |
Analysis/Detection of Contaminants
Canopy/Foliar Chemistry |
| |
Regional & Program Applications
Biogeochemistry/Geobotany |
| |
Fluorescence Sensors & Applications
Hyper/Ultra-spectral & Polarmetric Sensors |
| |
New Sensors & Applications
New Analytical & Computational Techniques |
| |
Radiative Transfer Modeling
Coastal/Wetland & Aquatic Applications |
Authors are encouraged to submit papers focusing on one of these topics or, if there is sufficient interest, to form a new topic area. Further information on this conference can be found at www.epa.gov/nerlesd1/land-sci/srsv/default.htm. Deadline for abstract submission is October 01, 2002.
