Save Our Species: Bald Eagle

Our national bird is an endangered species success story! In 1963, scientists counted just over 400 pairs of bald eagles in the lower 48 states. Then, the pesticide DDT was banned. Hunting eagles was banned, too. Thanks to years of protection, there are now more than 4,000 pairs. image of a Bald Eagle
