Through this program, NOAA promotes conservation and management of the nation's coastal and marine resources, and describes and predicts changes in the environment to ensure sustainable economic opportunities. NOAA conducts in-house and extramural atmospheric, climate, oceanic and fisheries research. NOAA research grants are available through several NOAA marine research centers located on the Atlantic and Pacific coasts, and on the Gulf of Mexico. NOAA also operates an environmental technology laboratory in Boulder, Colorado, that leverages expertise in remote geophysical sensing of the environment.
