This program provides small businesses with funding for technology development. SBIR grants averaging $295,000 are designated for the core activities of proof of concept and prototype development. The program also encourages development leading to commercialization by offering additional funding of $70,000 to firms that have secured third-party financing for accelerating commercialization of the technology and up to $50,000 to support verification of technologies accepted into EPA’s Environmental Technology Verification Program. Focus areas to receive grants are chosen each year and cover all environmental media.
