The ETSS is a repository of environmental terms, their relationships, and their definitions. It is also a tool for the creation and management of terminology resources.
EPA is implementing ETSS in a phased approach. During this first phase, tools will be provided that will enable development and editing of terminology. The second phase will provide search and retrieval functionality, which will be available by the end of 2007. Until the second phase is implemented, the legacy Terminology Reference System (TRS) will continue to afford access to terminology.
