Environmental Technology Verification (ETV) Program
Canada, U.S. Bi-National Workshop on Performance Verification, Vehicle Fleet Technology
The Canada, U.S. Bi-National Workshop on Vehicle Fleet Technology Performance Verification will be held March 5 at the Environmental Science and Technology Centre in Ottawa, Canada. North American vehicle fleet managers want performance‑based criteria for after-market technologies that claim to improve vehicle fuel efficiency and reduce mobile source emissions. ETV Canada is hosting a bi-national workshop to further engage Canadian and U.S. vehicle fleet managers and other stakeholders in defining acceptable performance criteria and test methods for technologies in this area. The objective is to implement a bi-national initiative to improve border air quality. The U.S. ETV program, Environment Canada, and ETV Canada are investigating joint testing of aftermarket devices, such as diesel engine retrofit devices and potential mutual recognition of verification results. Representatives from the ETV Air Pollution Control Technology and Greenhouse Gas Technology Centers will participate in the workshop. Evelyn Hartzell, EPA, will present “U.S. Environmental Technology Verification Program.”
