Dioxin Emission Monitoring Systems Verified
The ETV Advanced Monitoring Systems Center, in cooperation with Battelle, has verified the performance of four dioxin emission monitoring systems for detecting polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDD) and polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDF) in incinerator emissions. These systems are: Jet-REMPI developed by Southern Research Institute (SRI), Adsorption Method for Sampling Dioxins and Furans (AMESA) developed by bm becker messtechnik gmbh, DioxinMonitoringSystem developed by Monitoring Systems GmbH, and RIMMPA-TOFMS (Resonance Ionization with Multi-Mirror System Photon Accumulation Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometer) developed by IDX Technologies, Ltd. The performance of these systems was verified for relative accuracy, range, data completeness, and operational factors (ease of use, maintenance, and consumables/waste generated). The verification reports and statements will be available on the ETV Web site.

Baghouse Filtration Product Verified
The ETV Air Pollution Control Technology Center, in cooperation with RTI International, has verified the performance of the filter fabric L3650 developed by W.L. Gore & Associates, Inc. This baghouse filtration product is designed to control emissions of PM2.5 (particulate matter 2.5 micrometers or smaller in aerodynamic diameter). The verification test measured outlet particle concentrations and particle size distributions in the air both upstream and downstream of the verified filter to provide results for penetration of PM2.5 through the filtration product. The verification for this technology addresses five aspects of filter fabric performance: filter outlet PM2.5 concentration, filter outlet total mass concentration, pressure drop, filtration cycle time, and mass gain on the filter fabric. The verification report and statement will be available on the ETV Web site.
