The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) recently launched the Greenhouse Gases Observing Satellite, also known as GOSAT, on January 23, 2009. This significant event marks the launch of the first satellite dedicated to measuring greenhouse gases, including carbon dioxide and methane, from space.

EPA and Poland's natural gas transmission company, GAZ-SYSTEM S.A., recently signed an agreement to work together on reducing methane emissions. GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. headquartered in Warsaw, is a state company that operates Poland's domestic gas transportation pipelines.

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (ONGC) has become the eighth partner to join EPA's Natural Gas STAR International. In joining the Program, ONGC is demonstrating leadership by committing to work with the EPA to identify and implement cost-effective methane emission reduction projects and to report their successes to EPA.
