Self Contained X-Ray System
A fully contained, lead-lined x-ray system provides for the x-ray of fish and other specimen from ~1cm in length to over 250 cm.Specimen are placed on x-ray film encased in light-tight packaging within the instrument. The door is closed and x-ray exposure is made according to user set parameters or an automatic exposure setting. The film is developed in the darkroom and analyzed for anomalies. This instrumentation has proved valuable in the study of compounds which cause bone abnormalities in fishes (e.g., triflurilin, kepone) and the study of vertebral anomalies in field specimen
