This paper describes use of microcosms as test systems for fate and transport of microorganisms. Microcosms shown to behave ecologically in a manner similar to that observed in the field might be used as a surrogate for field testing. Containment with microcosms far exceeds that possible with outdoor field studies, and cost savings make microcosms ideal for research. |
