Human activities can increase or decrease the availability of culturally significant ecosystems or areas conducive to recreation. Cultural activities and recreation are often dependant on the presence of particular animals, plants, or landscape types. Areas providing an abundance and variety of high quality recreational opportunities are valued for maintaining human well-being.
