R/V Lake Guardian in dry-dock 2000

The R/V Lake Guardian was retrofitted in dry-dock in September 2000.  The work took place in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin.  The main tasks were:

  • Hull inspection which is required every five years of vessels operating in fresh water
  • Expanding holding tanks (for sewage) that allow the ship to remain underway for longer periods of time with larger crews.
  • Upgrading the data wiring on board to a fiber-optic network
