FY2000 - 2001 Great Lakes Priorities and Funding Guidance
Date: December 23, 1999
Dear Great Lakes Colleague:
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Great Lakes National Program Office (GLNPO) invites you to submit Preproposals for projects to be awarded from Fiscal Year 2000 funding. The deadline for Preproposals is February 18, 2000. We are targeting a total of $3.04 million to award in the summer and fall of FY 2000 for projects in the priority areas of:
- Contaminated Sediments
- Pollution Prevention and Reduction (Binational Toxics Strategy)
- Ecological (Habitat) Protection and Restoration
- Invasive Species
- Emerging Issues
This year we are not doing a mass distribution of the Great Lakes Priorities and Funding Guidance document. It is available at http://www.epa.gov/glnpo/fund/2000guid/index.html . You will find there a description of GLNPO's funding process, the Request for Preproposals, evaluation criteria, and the Preproposal development and submittal program. We are using an updated version of the same Preproposal submission program we used last year. You can download the Preproposal program directly from http://www.epa.gov/glnpo/fund/pss2000.html . If you saved last year's preproposal, the program allows you to import it and use it again this year.
For your reference, the Funding Guidance document also describes the purpose of the Great Lakes Program; priorities for the coalition of State, Federal, Tribal, and non-governmental organizations comprising the Great Lakes Program; and key USEPA contacts. In January, we propose to update information on the principal USEPA and other Federal Great Lakes Funding Opportunities related to Great Lakes environmental priorities. That information will be posted to http://www.epa.gov/glnpo/fund/fundoptn.html.
Please share this information within your organization. Feel free to contact my office with questions. Email pss_support@glnpo.net or call Tony Kizlauskas (312-0353-8773) if you would like assistance in downloading the submittal program. Technical contacts for each funding category are listed in the Funding Guidance. Vicki Thomas (312-886-6942) or Michael Russ (312-886-4013) of her staff are also available to answer general questions.
Sincerely yours,
/signed December 23, 1999/

Great Lakes National Program Office
