Selections of Proposals submitted to the U.S. EPA Great Lakes National Program Office (GLNPO) FY2006-2007 Funding Guidance process have been made. Earlier this year applicants submitted 82 proposals totaling $16.57 million. Thirty-two projects totaling approximately $5.17million have been selected. U.S. EPA previously negotiated separately with the Great Lakes States to continue support for Lakewide Management Plan and enhanced Remedial Action Plan management and implementation. As a result of the Funding Guidance and State negotiations, projects are expected to be distributed across each of the Great Lakes basins and in all eight of the Great Lakes states.
GLNPO is now requesting full grant applications for the projects
identified at the end of this message. Applicants should be aware
that the final decisions on whether to fund particular projects will
only be made following evaluations of the full federal application
packages. Additional negotiation may be necessary regarding project
scopes and amounts - amounts may differ from what was originally
proposed. U.S. EPA staff will contact the applicants for the projects
listed below and will send specific guidance for submitting the full
federal application packages. Applicants who wish to do so may begin
working with the forms available online at http://www.epa.gov/greatlakes/fund/appforms.html.
Application packages are due by May 31, 2007 or as negotiated with
your project officer.

Guidance and will be posted on the Internet at http://www.epa.gov/greatlakes/fund/2006fund/yeslist.html
Thank you for your participation in the GLNPO funding process. We
apologize for the protracted selection process this year resulting
from the delay in passage of an FY07 budget for the U.S. EPA. We
plan to explore approaches for our next offering that will address
that problem. I encourage you to respond directly to me via return
e-mail with any comments you may have that would help us to improve
our process for next year.
