Environmental Features
Green Power
- EPA offsets 100 percent of the electricity consumption at 1310 L Street with renewable energy certificates (RECs) purchased through the Agency's current blanket green power contract. Learn more about EPA's current and past blanket green power contracts.
- In April 2006, EPA replaced the green power contract for its offices in the 1310 L Street building in Washington, DC. The replacement contract, active until 2007, provided more than 13 million kWh of green power in the form of RECs. This purchase, which offset 100 percent of the facility's electricity needs, supported the generation of green power at several wind farms in Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
Alternative Transportation
- In FY 2005, 84 percent of Headquarters' new fleet acquisitions were alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs). Since 2000, EPA has exceeded the requirements of Executive Order 13149, which calls for at least 75 percent of new vehicle acquisitions to be AFVs.
