Description
EPA's Region 9 consists of four states and two U.S. Territories: Nevada, California, Arizona, Hawaii, Samoa, and Guam. EPA Region 9 also works with 147 federally recognized tribes in the Pacific Southwest.

Energy Conservation
- The building in which the Region 9 Office is located was awarded
the ENERGY STAR®
in 2008 with a score of 97, in 2009 with a score of 98, in 2010 with
a score of 97, in 2011 with a score of 98, and again in 2012 with a score of 97.
Green Power
- EPA offsets 100 percent of the electricity consumption at the Region 9 Office with renewable energy certificates (RECs) purchased through the Agency's blanket green power contract. Learn more about EPA's blanket green power contracts.
Green Building
- In May 2009, Hawthorne Plaza, the building in which the Region 9 Office
is currently located, received LEED®
for existing buildings version 2.0 Gold certification from
the U.S. Green Building Council. The LEED rating system is a voluntary,

buildings.
