| Partner Profile American University, in Washington, DC, is committed to achieving carbon neutrality by the year 2020 through a combination of energy conservation and efficiency, renewable energy production onsite, renewable energy sourcing, and carbon offsets for unavoidable emissions incliding those from air travel. A 27 kilowatt (kW) solar PV array and three solar thermal panels were installed in the School of International Service in 2010. In 2011, the University completed the largest solar energy project in the District of Columbia, including 505 kW of solar photovoltaics and 204 kW of solar thermal, via power purchase agreements. | |
