The City of Pendleton was fortunate to have a council member that was very environmentally conscious and encouraged staff to take on the goal of becoming more environmentally sensitive. She pushed the Pacific Power Blue Sky program and then was very supportive when the staff recommended the solar installations. The city's solar installations include a 100 kW roof-mounted array at the water treatment plant and a 200 kW ground-mounted tracking system at the wastewater treatment plant. "If you do the right thing, your efforts will snowball. We start with a minor goal of becoming a Blue Sky city and now we have two solar installations and one more on the way. We have citizens talking about green power and taking action in their own homes. The citizens have new pride in their community since Pendleton became a leader in green power," said Larry Lehman, City Manager.
