Dell Inc. is one of the world’s largest information technology and services companies, and strives to find practical, efficient ways to do business, build products and create solutions that make the least possible environmental impact. In 2013, Dell launched its 2020 Legacy of Good Plan, a new, long-term sustainability strategy with ambitious commitments in the areas of environment, communities and people.
Electricity consumption is the most significant contribution to Dell’s facility environmental footprint. In its sustainability activities, the company focuses on a two-fold strategy: increase green power use and improve efficiency. The company began purchasing renewable-source electricity in 2003, and its current purchases cover many of its large facilities in the US and Europe. In addition, Dell operates on-site solar photovoltaic generation systems at its Round Rock, Texas headquarters and in Bangalore, India. In concert with its green energy purchases, Dell has implemented numerous energy-conservation projects, including building upgrades, power management strategies and IT solutions.
Dell joined the EPA Green Power Partnership in 2007, and is consistently ranked on several of the National Top Partners lists each year.
