Motorola (NYSE: MOT) is known for innovation in communications, focused on advancing the way people, enterprises and governments around the world are more connected and more mobile. The company is working to be part of the solution to climate change. That means cutting the impact of its operations and supply chain while designing and manufacturing products with a lower carbon footprint. Motorola also aims to provide products and services that help our customers reduce their CO2 emissions. Since 2005, the company has reduced its carbon footprint by 20 percent by implementing energy-saving measures, consolidating facilities and purchasing renewable energy. For 2009, Motorola is purchasing more than 78 million kilowatt hours of third-party certified renewable energy certificates, generated from wind-power sources, which represents 20 percent of U.S. electricity purchases. "Motorola is an innovative company - from inventing breakthrough products to making our operations greener to helping our customers shrink their environmental footprint. Our support of renewable energy is part of our global strategy to reduce our climate impact which is good for the environment and makes good business sense," said Don Bartell, senior director of Environmental Initiatives, Motorola, Inc.
