Northern Arizona University (NAU) strives to showcase a living laboratory where students study and participate in the development of social equity, economic stability, and environmental stewardship. At the Flagstaff campus, students live, learn, eat, play, make purchases, use energy, and participate in every possible aspect of life—NAU is a micro-community! As such, NAU has the opportunity to demonstrate to larger cities, the nation, and the world what a truly healthy and sustainable environment can look like.
NAU does hundreds of things to decrease our environmental footprint, such as building all new construction to LEED silver standards, installing energy efficient fixtures and appliances, organizing multiple conservation campaigns, being a Bike Friendly Campus, composting our food, and so much more. NAU is particularly proud of our Green Power purchases and believes it’s essential to demonstrate our commitment to sustainability and a healthy and safe world to our students, employees, and community.
